FINALISATION of last Christmas’ Archbishop’s Appeal has again enabled generosity and need to meet in Jesus’ name.

Archbishop Christopher Prowse expressed his great appreciation and heartfelt gratitude at being able to offer almost $67,000 for projects both overseas and to our near neighbours in Australia from the 2017 Archbishop’s Christmas Appeal.

Thank you to all who supported this Appeal. Internationally, the La Salette Matha Province in India has received over $12,200 towards the provision of a school bus to transport young children to school from poor surrounding villages and Bethlehem University in the Holy Land received $5,000 for student assistance to those in need.

Ten thousand dollars each went towards projects within the Dioceses of Otukpo, Nigeria in Africa and Tagbilaran, Cebu in the Philippines, the latter focusing on ongoing recovery work at their Diocesan Seminary.

The National Council of Churches’ Christmas Bowl Appeal, has also been given $10,000 towards their Act for Peace development projects within our region.

Locally, $5,000 will support the Wilcannia Hub project assisting young indigenous families whilst the remaining funds will assist diocesan projects within the Wilcannia Forbes Diocese.
