Back to business
The Archdiocesan Marriage Family Relationships Team is back to work sharing a positive, respectful understanding of puberty changes and how to become a decent grown-up who knows how to have respectful relationships with others.
Cathy Madsen, the coordinator of the primary school ‘My Body My Life Program’ leads teams of specially trained uni students, retirees and stay at home parents who work with primary school children in the classroom to try to instill a positive understanding of their body changes and a holistic understanding of human relationships underpinned by Catholic values.
The program is usually preceded by a parent and child session. “Our aim is always to give confidence to parents to engage with their children on these important issues. Parents can feel really overwhelmed at times so getting the parents and children in together means everyone has heard the same information and ideas together and hopefully parents feel supported and encouraged in the conversations they are having at home’
Many schools missed the program during COVID shut down so the team is now working double-time to get the program to all schools who booked for 2020.
The program kicked off this week with visits to Holy Rosary Watson and Holy Spirit Nicholls.
