Canberra’s international authority on human rights, Dr Helen Watchirs, will be the guest speaker at the annual International Women’s Day Breakfast hosted by the Archdiocese’s Women’s Taskforce. Dr Watchirs is both the President of the ACT Human Rights Commission and the ACT Human Rights Commissioner.
With 19 years in the role of Commissioner, Dr Watchirs has national and international expertise in health and human rights and has built a formidable career in fostering the rights of all. Among many prestigious awards, she has received an OAM for human rights in 2010 and was ACT Senior Woman of the Year in 2020.
The event is free but any monies raised will go to MacKillop House, a CatholicCare project and a place of safety for women and children.
Always a lively and happy morning, everyone is invited to hear Dr Watchirs and to catch breakfast with new and old friends.
