The ancient liturgy of Tenebrae (the offices of Matins and Lauds) for Holy Saturday, sung on the evening of Good Friday. Psalms and Lessons sung in Gregorian Chant, the beautiful Responses composed by the Spanish Tomas Luis De Victoria (d. 1611) and the wonderful “Miserere” of Gregorio Allegri (d. 1652). A ceremony which ends dramatically in complete darkness (“Tenebrae” is a Latin word for darkness.) Booklets supplied with English translations alongside the Latin.
