Listen

The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.

We have heard a lot over the last few days from Jesus as the Good Shepherd. There are so many beautiful, tender and loving images that Jesus draws on in this simple metaphor; his care for us, his willingness to defend us, his patience, mercy and love.

Today’s reading talks about our part of this relationship; that we LISTEN.

Do we know how to listen to the voice of God?
Do we know how to recognise it from other voices?
Can we distinguish between God’s voice and others by the timbre and tone that sets it apart?

Are you building up your capacity to be still and silent, so that you can hear God speak?

This is the journey of a lifetime – to draw close to God without filling the space with our own voice, but instead being quiet and open to listen.
