IF EVENTS in May are any indication to go by, devotion to Our Lady in the South Coastal Deanery remains strong.

Devotees from the parishes of Batemans Bay, Moruya (Tuross/Bodalla), Narooma (Cobargo/Bermigui), Bega (Candela/Tathra) and Merimbula (Pambula/Eden) came together for the annual Marian Procession at Cobargo on May 6, while Tathra, Bega, Moruya and Batemans Bay all participated in the inaugural nationwide Oz Rosary 53 on May 13.

Speaking on behalf of Catholics on the South and Sapphire Coast said this year’s procession at Cobargo, Fr Martins Aloga said this year’s event6s were reckoned to be the best in years.

“The high points of the procession included the circular recitation of the Rosary with every parish leading a decade in turn,” he said.

“The solemn exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the worship hymns from Merimbula parish and the violin exhibition were other high points.

“We hope to bear the statue of Mary in the future processions.”

Fr Aloga said that Archdiocesan Vicar General, Fr Tony Percy, delivered an inspiring exultation identifying The Blessed Virgin Mary as one who received the love of God and shared same with humanity.

The gathering concluded with cuppa organized by the Cobargo Church Community with a great hospitality enjoyed by all in attendance.
