North South

The opening prayer for today is important. It begins:

O God, who restore human nature to yet greater dignity than at its beginnings.

The “beginning” is God’s creative act. The Father has made us in his image and likeness. This is quite something, don’t you think?

But now we are informed that our dignity is greater than this. Is this just wishful thinking?

Well, to create from nothing is marvellous. But then to transform evil into good is something else.

So, next time something goes “south” – really “south” – simply turn to God who will direct you “north”!
