Unending Joy

The adoration of the lamb. Chromolithograph after Jan van Eyck.

The Prayer over the Offerings today requests:

“that we may always find delight in these paschal mysteries,
so that the renewal constantly at work within us
may be the cause of our unending joy”.

We are called to rejoice in the Good News of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. We should praise God daily with hearts full of gratitude for rescuing us from the dire consequences of our own sinful nature.

We are also called to allow that Good News to do its work within us, like an enzyme, a yeast, converting the very stuff of our lives into something wholesome and nourishing for others.

And our reward for delighting in and surrendering to the Grace of Easter? Unending joy.

Sounds like a plan.
