Papal award for Taralga man

Father Dermid McDermott (parish priest), Pat Keough and Margaret McGregor (parish council chairperson).

Mr Keough, a parishioner of Christ the King Parish, Taralga, was asked to come forward during the Mass by Fr Dermid McDermot, parish priest, to receive an award.

Chairperson of the Parish Council, Margaret McGregor, bestowed the Papal Award on Pat for his continual dedication and active service to the Parish Community.

Pat has worked tirelessly in the roles of Acolyte, Reader, Minister of the Eucharist and Finance recorder over the past 40 years

Pat expressed his thanks to all those present, stating that it was an honour to receive this award for something that he really enjoyed.

Members of Pat’s family had travelled long distances to celebrate this occasion.  

The award was endorsed by both family members and parishioners as they applauded their acknowledgement and support of this outstanding achievement.

Family and friends gathered for a light supper in the old convent to express their congratulations and reminisce with Pat.
