Today, take your pick.

The first reading sets before us life or death, blessing or curse (Deuteronomy 30).

Psalm 1 reminds us ‘that most of life depends upon the company we keep.’

The Gospel (Luke 9) challenges us ‘to lose our life so that we may gain it.’

I have chosen the opening prayer as a preparation for the 40 days of Lent:

Prompt our actions with you inspiration, we pray, O Lord, and further them with your constant help, that all we do may always begin from you and by you be brought to completion.
