Youth Ministry leaders from 16 Dioceses met last week for the Australian Network of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators annual meeting.

Youth Ministry Coordinators from across the country gathered last week in Melbourne for the Australian Network of Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinators annual meeting.

The gathering brought together leaders from 16 Dioceses and provided an opportunity to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit in youth ministry across Australia.

Huw Warmenhoven, from the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, said that the gathering was “brilliant to unite leaders from all parts of the country in one vision – to invite young people to encounter Christ and participate in the life and mission of the Church.”

Sydney Catholic Youth Coordinator, Chris Lee, spoke of the importance of the network, saying “it allows us the opportunity to connect in with people facing similar struggles and challenges.

“Our role is one that can be of high influence but also high responsibility so the opportunity to bounce ideas with other big picture people allows us to be able to dream and start implementing what could be while constantly being reminded of what matters.”

It was evident that Diocesan Youth Ministry leaders found a new confidence in the direction of their ministry both locally and nationally following the gathering.

The next annual meeting will be held in the Diocese of Lismore in 2019.
