Clean Up Your Own Backyard

Ever visit someone, tut silently over the state of their messy home, and then go home and ignore your overgrown garden? Hypocrisy is such an easy sin to fall into. Being deeply invested in our wellbeing, we often avoid facing what’s not so lovely about ourselves. We either pretend to be better than we are, or we look for where others are worse than us so we can feel better. I think the answer is to focus on what renovations need to happen in ourselves. Not even look at others for their faults but mow our lawns. So what needs work in you today?

Lord Jesus, direct my attention to seeing what needs to change in me and give me the courage to tackle it. Amen
