Following Jean Vanier’s passing on May 7, it has been announced that, according to his will, Jean’s funeral will be held at Trosly-Breuil, France on May 16.

There are many who would wish to attend this ceremony however following Jean’s desire to have an intimate celebration and due to logistical complexity and size of the venue, the community of L’Arche Trosly has had to limit the number of attendees.

Only those who have received a personal invitation will be able to attend this ceremony. However, Jean’s funeral will be broadcast live on Thursday, May 16 at 2pm local time (11pm Australian Eastern Time).

The L’Arche website, www.larche.org.au, will have the link to the funeral posted on Thursday.

Nationally, L’Arche Australia will be hosting a celebration of Jean’s life at 2PM on Saturday May 25 at St John the Evangelist Church, East Melbourne.

Archbishop Peter Comensoli will preside. We extend an invitation to all members of the communities of L’Arche and Faith and Light in Australia, as well as members of the wider public who wish to honour the life of Jean and all that he gave to the church and the world to join us at that time.

For further information please contact Dr. David Treanor, National Leader, 0459 383 857 or Ms. Eileen Glass, Director Fundraising & Development 0431 898 013.

To RSVP to the celebration please phone (03) 6238 4341 or email region@larche.org.au.
