Last Moments

The Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel of John speak to us of last moments.

Paul is under house arrest. Jesus ‘lets himself be seen’ by the apostles, most especially Peter.

What might we glean from these last moments? For like final speeches and last words, last moments are precious.

Paul is at peace, clarifying that he is under arrest, not for any offence he intended, but simply for proclaiming the Gospel.

Peter’s love is deepening, as he takes note of the beloved disciple’s gestures.

The peace of Christ. The love of Christ.

That is enough.
