Marvellous music and tasty treats for Campbell community

Students at St Thomas More’s primary school are eagerly anticipating an exciting inaugural event for the suburb.

The Campbell Community Celebration is set to be an evening of marvellous music thanks to the renowned ADFA band alongside delectable treats from local vendors.

“It is an opportunity to open the doors at St Thomas More’s to our families and the wider community for a night of celebration,” school principal Luke Donnelly said.

“In addition to hearing two 45-minute sets from the ADFA band, we have organised for local food vans to be set up in the bottom of the school carpark and entertainment for the kids in the form of face painting, glitter tattoos, colouring in and quiet spaces.”

Mr Donnelly said the event would encourage people to embrace the rare opportunity to hear the ADFA band outside of their official ADF schedule, as well as gather with local community members for an evening of entertainment.

“It is the first time the event is being held and it is being run by the school,” he explained.

“The kids are really excited at the prospect of seeing food vans in the carpark and getting free entertainment while the band is playing. We are also going to lay out picnic rugs for them to have prime positions to listen to the band.”

St Thomas More’s students are excitedly planning and preparing for the first community celebration.

Mr Donnelly said the community event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate not only the school, but its strong connection to the Australian Defence Force and local community.

“The past three years have resulted in minimal opportunities to engage with the local community so we are thrilled to open our doors once more and hope that the success of the Campbell Community Celebration results in it being an annual event for our school and community to enjoy,” he said.

Community members are encouraged to bring a chair or picnic rug to join the festivities.
