Not Us

Matthew was called in an unorthodox manner. Sitting at the tax office, Jesus chose him. Remarkably, he followed Jesus.

I know a fella who was at a decadent party, left it and as he walked had the thought, ‘What is this all about?’ Soon after he applied to be a priest.

God is in charge, not us.

The slickest of pastoral plans will fail unless we are attuned to the Spirit.

And we will know that we are attuned if we enjoy the ‘company of tax collectors and sinners’ (Matthew 9).

Go on. Enjoy the mess.
