THEY’RE young, talented and enthusiastic.

They also have a keenness to spread their wings – or tunes for that matter.

And from this month on they are available to come to a parish near you.

Presenting St Greg’s Youth SGY Worship – a music ministry organically raised out of the Queanbeyan Parish.

Leading the group is Jordan Hodge, a Youth Minister in the Archdiocese and St Greg’s parishioner.

He says the impetus to venture beyond their own doors stems from a want to support other parishes looking to develop Youth Masses of their own.

“In early 2016, St Gregory’s Parish started its Sunday afternoon Youth and Family Mass,” he said.

“As the first Sunday approached, they quickly realised they had forgotten one of the most important parts of a Youth Mass, an awesome music ministry.”

Mr Hodge says a parent from the parish initially volunteered himself, his guitar (named Martin) and his two kids.

“Along with one of the parish Youth Ministers, they came together to create SGY Worship,” he said.

“Two and a half years later they have grown beyond their humble beginnings to become a full Catholic worship band.”

SGY Worship are made up of school students from the Queanbeyan region who are united by their love of Jesus and commitment to sharing the Gospel through music.

If your parish is interested in developing a Youth Mass or need a band to lead worship for any event, you can contact them at sgyworship@gmail.com or follow their adventures on Instagram by following @sgyworship.
