Australia Day 2022
The Preface of the Mass today is very handy indeed:
From ancient times you made this land a home for many peoples, and became their rock of strength.
When they were hungry, you gave them food, and when thirsty, water even in the desert.
Aboriginal peoples first migrated here 40,000 years ago. The seas rose 150 metres about 20,000 years ago, isolating the continent.
Then came the second migration in 1788.
Nothing is perfect this side of the grave, but it is ‘a home for many peoples.’
God’s providence has been felt in the south land.
