MacKillop House seeks urgent help to support Christmas Day lunch

For 12 women at MacKillop House at Lyneham in Canberra’s northern suburbs there’s room at the inn this Christmas, but there’s no cook.

MacKillop House, run by CatholicCare, accommodates 42 people sleeping on site, including 25 single woman and six families with 11 children.

It needs help this Christmas Day from families and individuals to cook or prepare a plate for residents to share at lunch.

Salads, vegetable and meat dishes, and desserts are needed and may be delivered to CatholicCare on Christmas Eve.

Anyone wanting to show the women they are not forgotten this Christmas may contact CatholicCare on email info@catholiccare.cg.org.au

As CatholicCare operates MacKillop House without government funding, financial support may be offered at https://catholiccare.cg.org.au/donation/

MacKillop House was opened in June to meet the growing need for emergency housing for women. It is a specialist homelessness service with more than 70% of residents seeking shelter as a result of domestic and family violence.

I would like to help. I have a home-made Christmas pudding to donate. It would need to be heated on the day. I am also happy to come on Christmas Day and help serve dinner. <y kids are both overseas. I was planning to spend Christmas with my family in Sydney, but that's not happening now. Please let me know if I can help.
