The Sisters of Mary Queen of Peace Community in Bonner, ACT celebrated their feast day on February 2 with a gathering of over 90 people.

The Feast Day of the Presentation of Our Lord was chosen as being significant for the community to recognise how they present Jesus to others with their lives.

Sr. Minh, Sr. Tuyet and Sr. Kim bore witness to this important celebration by renewing their Religious Profession during a Mass celebrated by Fr. John Armstrong.

This joyful occasion drew together many of the people who support the community in their mission of proclaiming the Kingdom of God by a variety of apostolic works and the sharing of a common life. Sr. Kim, the community leader said, “As a community we seek to be like Mary by pondering on how the presence of Jesus transforms our lives as a sign of true hope”.

The Mass was followed by a banquet of various Vietnamese food and the cutting of a cake to celebrate this important occasion. The community in Canberra is the first community of the Congregation outside Viet Nam.

This year the Congregation will celebrate 60 years since its foundation by Bishop Paul Sietz in Kontum and 50 years since they were recognised as a canonically established community in Banmethuot Diocese by Bishop Peter Nguyen Huy Mai. Sr. Kim added, “We seek to serve people wherever we live and to live a simple life joyfully in the love of God.”
